Ready? Fight!

Table of Contents[Hide][Show]
  • #5 God of Rock
  • #4 Die by the Blade
  • #3 Clash: Artifacts of Chaos
  • #2 Street Fighter 6
  • #1 Mortal Kombat 1

At one point in time, fighting games were one of the biggest staples in arcades around the globe. Since the early days, they’ve become a booming genre on home consoles and PC. With plenty of different styles to choose from, 2023 is promising some excellent additions to the genre. Here are the upcoming fighting games we’re looking forward to playing.

#5 God of Rock

Developer: Modus Games
Publisher: Modus Games
Platforms: PC PS4 PS5 Xbox One XSX|S Switch
Release: April 17, 2023

How’s this for a twist on the music genre? In God of Rock, the literal God of Rock has been reborn. So to get some entertainment out of his life, he’s resurrected some of the best musicians in the universe to fight it out for supremacy!

We mean that literally, as you’ll battle on the beats and against your opponent to come out on top. With 40 songs on the playlist and the songs continuing until one of you is victorious, you’ll need to wield your musician’s powers wisely and match the beats to deal the damage necessary to win!

You’ve never played a musical fighting game quite like this.

#4 Die by the Blade

Developer: Triple Hill Interactive
Publisher: Kwalee
Platforms: PC PS4 Xbox One
Release: 2023

In this game’s world, you live by the blade, or you Die by the Blade. Get it?

The sword battling title puts you in a “Samurai Punk” world where you’ll choose your weapon and set out to fight some of the best warriors out there to prove yourself.

Button-mashing will not serve you well, here. You must master your blade by learning its combos, knowing how to parry attacks, and get the deadly strike you need. The game prides itself on its “one-hit kill” system. So if you make the right move, you’ll win. Make the wrong one, and you’ll die.

Respect your blade and it might save your life.

#3 Clash: Artifacts of Chaos

  • Developer: ACE Team
  • Publisher: Nacon
  • Platforms: XBO, PS4, PC, X/S, PS5
  • Release: May 9, 2023

Not all fighting games have to be in the standard style of the genre–some can feature plenty of RPG and adventure influence. This is exactly the case with Clash: Artifacts of Chaos. In the game, you’ll be a martial arts master who stumbles across a creature known as The Boy. This creature has unusual abilities that attract the attention of a higher being, and thus, your fighter will protect the boy from all of the threats the faces. You’ll only be using your martial arts skills to fight off your foes, so use your techniques wisely!

#2 Street Fighter 6

  • Developer: Capcom
  • Publisher: Capcom
  • Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, X/S
  • Release: June 2, 2023

Capcom’s hard-hitting franchise is back, and Street Fighter 6 aims to be the best the series has ever offered.

The battles have never been more intense, as each character has been improved to utilize their classic moves and their fighting style so they can be used differently to get to your opponents and beat them down. That doesn’t even mention the unique new characters with new moves you’ll have to adapt to.

Plus, if you’re a newcomer, the game offers multiple control schemes that will ensure you can learn the moves and play well among more experienced players. This fighting title is for everyone, so don’t be afraid to try it out.

#1 Mortal Kombat 1

Platform: PC PS5 XSX|S Switch
Release Date: September 19, 2023

Steam | PlayStation | Xbox | Nintendo

Why does one play a title like Mortal Kombat 1? That is a question that many people will have different answers to. But one of the biggest reasons is the violence. It sounds mean, but this franchise has never been shy about having the most brutal ways to finish off opponents in combat.

Whether it’s a Brutality or a Fatality, the Kombatants are always getting clever moves to do away with foes, and this new title is no different. So the question is, how far will you go to get victory?

Plus, with the new Kameo system, gamers will be able to call on more fighters to help them beat up enemies and deliver crushing blows.
