Rainbow Six Siege Is Getting A Pro League

January 29, 2016 by Carlos Chism

The winners at the end of the season will take home $50,000.

Ubisoft has partnered with Xbox and the Electronic Sports Leage (ESL) to create a dedicate eSports league for its new tactical shooter. The league will officially be called the Rainbow Six Pro League (via GameSpot).

Competition will start on the first week of March on both Xbox One and PC. The game’s creative director said the game was created for the type of competition seen in eSports leagues:

"Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege was built from the ground up with competition in mind. We're excited to partner with ESL, one of the biggest names in esports, to deliver a league for Rainbow Six Siege fans to compete and enjoy the game they love."

Season One competition begins with eight matches played on PC at the Intel Extreme Masters in Katowice, Poland at the beginning of March. Future tournaments will be held in North America and on Xbox One in “the weeks after.”

The Siege Pro League Season One has a total prize pool of $100,000. At the end of the season, the top two teams at the end of the season will face off at a live event, with the winners ending up with $50,000. More details for the competitive league can be found at its website.

We recently found out that the first expansion for Rainbow Six Siege, Operation Black Ice, is being delayed. The base game itself has already undergone some significant changes since its release last year.
