Street Fighter V Developer Capcom Expects Massive Sales

January 28, 2016 by Ian Miles Cheong

The makers of Street Fighter V have seen good revenues over the past year and expect good sales for the upcoming game.

Capcom has revealed the financial results of the nine-month period between April 1 to December 31, 2015. The company reported a massive net revenue of ¥57 billion ($480 million), a 19.3% increase over the same period in 2014 (via GameSpot).

Capcom attributes the growth to mobile games, which cater to more diverse customer demographics than its console and PC lineup. The company also stated that it is cutting down its devlopment process to reduce costs and production time.

The company also revealed that Monster Hunter X sold over 3.2 million units, which exceeded its initial forecast of 2.5 million units. Its other games, including Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate and Resident Evil Revelations 2 both sold around 500,000 copies each across multiple territories.

The publisher's deal with Tencent to launch Monster Hunter Online this past December is also taking off, and is expected to draw profits for the publisher. Also in the MMORPG arena, Dragon's Dogma Online is reported to have had over 1.5 million unique downloads across PS4, PS3 and PC platforms in Japan.

Capcom capped it off with reports that both its mobile game downloads and its arcade business had strongly increased. The company is expected to launch Street Fighter V on February 16, with a few more games on the way this year.
