Konami has confirmed that Silent Hill: Downpour will be delayed until Q2 2012, following reports that retailers were altering the release dates on their listings.
Downpour, which marks the eighth entry in the Silent Hill franchise, was scheduled to release in early November for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but last week saw many prominent online shops pushing their launch projections back into 2012. Amazon.de's listing moved to February 15, while many others had the game slated the game for March 31. Today, Konami officially announced that the game will be releasing in the second quarter of 2012. In other words, we won't be heading back to Silent Hill until sometime between March and June of next year.
Hopefully the delay will help Czech Republic-based developer Vatra Games give Downpour an added coat of polish. Trade show previews have been less than enthusiastic so far, so a little extra time might be the best thing for it.
