Nintendo is curating Wii titles for the Wii U eShop on their own. Microsoft just finished a community vote for Xbox 360 titles on Xbox One. How is Sony picking PlayStation 2 titles for PlayStation 4? It turns out, they want the fans to help too.
Sony’s Dave Thach and Tim Lindquist revealed that yes, they are compiling the wishlist suggestions fans are making for PlayStation 2 games on Twitter. What they want fans to do in particular is to use the hashtage #ps2ps4 so that they can more easily collect the data.

Sony’s approach to getting this feedback isn’t as formal as Microsoft’s for Xbox 360 titles, or Nintendo’s for Smash characters. However, an advantage of using just the hashtag is that Sony potentially gets a larger pool of suggestions, since fans don’t have to learn how to use some voting tool.
The PlayStation 2 definitely is not lacking in classics and hidden gems, but just like their competitors, Sony isn’t guaranteed to get every wishlist game out there, due to the nature of game licenses and copyright.
There is also the question of whether said games have aged well enough to make them playable again on PlayStation 4. Nostalgia is a hell of a drug, and what may have been acceptable back in the day may not be as appealing today.
