Minecraft: Pocket Edition Available On Android

October 7, 2011 by Mat Growcott

Pesky outdoors keep getting in the way of Minecraft? Now you can take the indoors out, on Android

Minecraft is getting out of control. It seems I can’t open a webpage or even venture outside without hearing or seeing some mention of the world creation game. It’s about to get worse with the release of the Minecraft: Pocket Edition, available today on Android 2.2+ phones.

I mean, check out that trailer and tell me that Kristen Schaal isn’t scaring you into buying. The competition, launched alongside the Pocket Edition, has you creating a shrine to Schaal and uploading it to Youtube. The best of the best will be flown in to meet her in person, lucky devils you.

Mojang assured fans that they plan to fully support Minecraft: Pocket Edition with regular updates and the like, which is good news for those people who plan to shell out the $6.99. With that sort of support, $6.99 is a steal. I just hope they realise what they’re doing to the community at large, people who now can never truly escape.
