I loved Sonic Colours and, with the exception of the Nighttime levels, Unleashed was a step in the right direction for the series. As for Sonic the Hedgehog, well, I loved Sonic Colours and MOST of Unleashed.
And one of the best things about Sonic Generations is that the developers not only get to go back to those original Mega Drive/Genesis levels and redesign those, but redesign levels from the latest games as well.
The trailer above shows off the last of the 3 eras being mentioned in each of the trailers, the modern era. Expect both 2D and 3D levels based around some of the most popular and well-received levels from recent memory. The trailer specifically mentions Planet Wisp, Rooftop Run and Crisis City, although I’m sure there’ll be a few more in the final game.
I’m looking forward to being able to come online and see large critiques on how Sonic Team have managed to screw up the same level twice in a row, in the mean time I’ll just quietly scream my fanboy scream and go and count my pennies in preparation for early November.
