The Division's beta test has been delayed. Originally slated to take place this month (December 2015), the game's publisher Ubisoft has announced that the date has been moved back to next year.
Ubisoft states in a blog post that the testing will begin in early 2016, though it has declined to provide an exact date.
However, that doesn't mean players won't be able to experience some of the game this year. Those who pre-ordered the game on the Xbox One will have priority access to an Xbox One-only alpha test, which will take place this week. Keys for the test will be sent out in waves.
The test will be a closed alpha and comes with an NDA. Ubisoft will not allow players to share any details about the experience or take screenshots or videos.
The content available in the closed alpha will include more than what has been shown previously at E3 and other events, and will include Dark Zone PvP areas.
The alpha will start at 1am PPST on Wednesday, December 9 and end at 12am PST on Saturday, December 12. Players will need to free up at least 23.2GB to play the game on the Xbox One and those with keys will be able to pre-load the test starting today.
The Division will be out on March 16, 2016 on PC, Xbox One and PS4.
