In the midst of all the announcements and new coming from BlizzCon 2015 today, Overwatch, Blizzard’s upcoming shooter, became available for purchase on battle.net. The regular edition is $39.99 and is a digital download. Per the website, the game is expected to release “on or before June 21, 2016. Players can also purchase the Origins Edition of the game, a $59.99 digital download. Along with the game, it also comes with this extra content:
- Pre-purchase bonus Noire Skin for Widowmaker
- 21 Heroes, including a cast of “soldiers, scientists, adventurers, and oddieties”
- Iconic Environments: King’s Row in London, Temple of Anubis, Numbani, and more
- 5 Origin Skins: Overgrown bastion, Security Chief Pharah, Strike-Commander Morrison, Blackwatch Reyes, and Slipstream Tracer.
- “In-game goodies”, which include a Heroes of the Storm Tracer Hero, a WoW Baby Winston Pet, A Hearthstone Overwatch Card Back, Diablo 3 Mercy’s Wings, and six StarCraft 2 player portraits.
This information mostly confirms what had been leaked yesterday. Many suspected that the Origins Edition of the game would include all the elements that would have to be bought individually otherwise, due to the suspicion that the game would be free-to-play, and operate under a similar business model as Team Fortress 2, with players paying for characters. Now we know that doesn’t seem to be the case.
Overwatch is slated for release on or before June 21, 2016. You can check out the Origins Edition Digital Bonuses Preview below.
