We are getting close to the end of the Vampire Diaries franchise as the Legacies series comes to a close after being canceled by the CW. The final ever episode of Legacies, the second spin-off show after Vampire Diaries and The Originals, is set to air on June 16th, where a beloved character will return to say a final farewell.
Joseph Morgan, the beloved actor of our hybrid Klaus Mikaelson on Vampire Diaries before dying in the spin-off The Originals will be returning as the character in the series and franchise finale. This news was kinda a shock considering Klaus has been dead since the finale of The Originals leaving behind his daughter Hope Mikaelson which now stars in Legacies. Joseph Morgan himself revealed the news about returning as Klaus in a late night Instagram Live video on June 9th, saying that Klaus will be back “just for a fleeting moment.”
“I don’t know if I’ve got permissions to do this…I don’t know if I need it, to be honest; regardless, we’re here now,” Morgan said in this video mentioned before telling fans the surprising news. “You are going to see Klaus again, in the final ever episode of Legacies. Just for a fleeting moment. That’s it. You heard it here first.”
Joseph then added, “I know a lot of you probably don’t like this…this was never ever about a ship for me, or for Klaus. This is about family. Family is power. This is about a father and his daughter. Their relationship.”
Always and Forever
Joseph Morgan’s character Klaus first appeared in the second season of The Vampire Diaries, then soon after being promoted to a series regular for seasons 3 and 4. He left after the fourth season with his character Klaus having moved to his home city, New Orleans on his own family’s spin-off show, The Originals. In the final episodes on the show, Klaus sacrificed himself to save his daughter Hope, played by Danielle Rose Russell. These facts make many of us wonder just how Klaus will return in this finale episode. It wouldn’t be the first time that a character as returned from the dead in this franchise, but we just doubt that Klaus is fully alive but maybe more a magically spirit. We will have to wait and see.
Sometime last month, Joseph Morgan seemed to shoot down the speculation of Klaus’ return, noting that he hadn’t seen any of his past fellow cast members from The Vampire Diaries in years, also telling his fans to stop looking for hidden codes. He even went as far as to tweet the following: “everyone knows Klaus Mikaelson is dead.”
A couple days ago, Joseph dropped another tweet, just adding to the already buzzing rumors and excitement of Klaus Mikaelson coming back one last time. See tweet below.
