Gran Turismo 7 Beta Still Planned Next Year, Separate From Gran Turismo Sport

October 28, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

It will also have a bigger-than-ever-before Prologue.

Polyphony Digital has chimed in a day later with a statement clear as day: Gran Turismo Sport is not Gran Turismo 7.

Polyphony Digital may have had to be more specific as the announcement of Gran Turismo Sport left many fans confused if it was the next main installment of their series. As it turns out, this collaboration with the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile will be entirely its own thing. You can read more about Gran Turismo Sport here.

As for Gran Turismo 7, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe president and CEO Jim Ryan explained that Polyphony will definitely be releasing something down the line, in the vein of another Gran Turismo Prologue, but far more substantial.

As Jim explains, changes in how games are digitally distributed will enable Polyphony to make something more substantial than Gran Turismo Prologue, in the buildup to the next major release.

In the meantime, developer Kazunori Yamauchi has promised a beta as early as next year. Jim says based on what he has seen, there is no reason to believe Polyphony will not be able to deliver on this promise. It has been in development for a substantial amount of time, and it has been years since, as loyal fans may remember, Yamauchi failed to fulfill similar promises for Gran Turismo 6.

With Turn 10 makingForza games with consistent quality and in rapid succession, many fans say they have moved on from Polyphony’s series. Are you still looking forward to Gran Turismo 7? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
