Nintendo CEO Confirms At Least One Direct This Year, Mobile Game News Tomorrow

October 28, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

Although they will have an investor’s meeting tomorrow, it’s more likely Nintendo will talk about the game with fans first. Directly.

Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima has confirmed that Nintendo Directs will continue.

On the occasion of releasing their Q2 2015 results, he assured fans that they will still be making these promotional videos that fans have grown to love, and there will be at least one such Direct coming out before the end of the year.

He also revealed that Nintendo would be sharing news regarding their project with DeNA tomorrow, which also happens to be when they will be holding their first investor briefing after Kimishima took over from the late Satoru Iwata. As an analyst pointed out, this news likely won’t be coming in the investor briefing itself, since Nintendo usually shares this information to their customers directly.

Analyst says Nintendo won't announce mobile game at investor briefing b/c Nintendo traditionally done it for customers directly. I agree.

So, it is possible that Nintendo will have a Direct tomorrow, to discuss their 2016 mobile game with DeNA, but is there anything else on Nintendo’s agenda before the end of 2016? Their updated release schedule of 2015 and 2016 games for Wii U includes Xenoblade Chronicles X, Devil’s Third, Mario Tennis Ultra Smash, but also, surprisingly, the still tentatively named Project Guard. Could Project Guard be actually releasing for the key Black Friday weekend? Zelda Wii U would have also been a strong contender, only its now listed TBD.

On the 3DS side, release schedules are all over the place, but among the major titles are Yo-kai Watch and Hyrule Warriors Legends. If Nintendo has surprise 1st party or 3rd party games coming up, they should announce them at this Direct.

What do you hope Nintendo will talk about or reveal in their next Direct? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
