The Marvel Cinematic Universe has gotten a lot of things right, from casting, finding the right directors to bring certain properties to life, the crossovers of the characters, and more. The films have been coming for nearly 14 years now (Iron Man came out in 2008) and it doesn’t look like they’ll be stopping anytime soon. One of the biggest people you can thank for this is Kevin Feige.
Feige was the one who pushed for the MCU to be special and to try and include everyone they could. And now? They’re repeatedly box office smashes, helping to get the box office back on its feet with Spider-Man No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Legions of fans are looking forward to what comes next.
Between the movies and the Disney+ series (including tomorrow’s Ms. Marvel), fans have noticed that things feel a bit different in terms of releases. That is apparently by design:
“That’s always the intention, is that the Marvel Studios logo doesn’t promise a particular group of characters and a particular exact tone,” Kevin Feige said at a recent press conference. “It promises a spirit and a style and a vibe and an emotion, I hope. And it’s perfect timing to go from Moon Knight to Ms. Marvel, specifically because they’re so unique and so different with Multiverse of Madness and Love and Thunder on either end of that. That is what makes Marvel in publishing and now in the MCU so unique, is being able to see all of those different tones and styles and characters. So I like very much that people say, ‘Look, they’re all different.’ Because that’s how we always feel about them and always want them to feel.”
At present, certain ‘standards’ aren’t in Phase 4, such as this being the first phase without an Avengers movie. It’s a time to focus on other characters and to see what could possibly happen next.
