Square Enix’s upcoming NieR game, NieR New Project, has been officially titled NieR Automata, as revealed by the latest issue of Famitsu. While a release date for the game has not been announced, one could possibly come, along with other information, at Paris Games Week on October 28.
Developed by PlatinumGames, the game is set on a post-apocalyptic Earth ravaged by war. Battles between machine life forms and human’ android units called “Yorha” form the main focus of the game. The story takes place after the original Neir’s fourth ending, and both major and minor characters from the original game will appear.
PlatinumGames has also developed previous games such as MadWorld, Bayonetta, Bayonetta 2, and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. The developer released Transformers: Devestation just this month, and aims to finish their Xbox One exclusive Scalebound for 2016.
NieR Automata does not currently have a release date, but is expected to release on PlayStation 4.
