GOGcom has done it again, this time announcing key acquisitions to their library by bringing back the extremely rare and highly sought after Dungeons & Dragons games.
In specific, they bundled three series of Dungeons & Dragons games from the early to mid 1990s: Dungeons & Dragons: Ravenloft Series, Dungeons & Dragons: Krynn Series, Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Sun Series.
Between these titles, GOGcom had to negotiate with four companies; the owner of Dungeons & Dragons today, Hasbro, under Wizards of the Coast; Strategic Simulations Inc, which is now owned by Ubisoft, MicroMagic Inc, who developed the Krynn series for SSI, and Dreamforge intertainment, who were also licensed by SSI, but seem to now be the exclusive owners of the Ravenloft games.
If you are a longtime GOG fan, of course, you would know that GOGcom has been dogged in their pursuit of the Dungeons & Dragons games. A key tipping point came this August, when they brought in 13 titles, including titles from the Forgotten Realms and Pool of Radiance series. Their library also already has other various licensees, including Baldur’s Gate, Neverwinter Nights, and the incredible Planescape Torment.
If you’re new to all these but are curious, why not check out the latest Dungeons & Dragons games today? You can learn about the release from GOGcom, and go to links to each series, here.
