Resident Evil Village will be coming to the PlayStation VR2 system. Announced in today’s Sony State of Play, the eighth entry in Capcom’s landmark horror series will be coming to the next generation of Sony’s virtual reality system. Rumors of virtual reality support for RE Village have been swirling online for some time.
In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Sony followed up its announcement by confirming that “development is currently underway to bring the story campaign in its entirety to be playable in VR.” The post goes on to say that the game will “provide an even deeper immersive experience by taking full advantage of the vivid graphics possible with the headset’s 4K HDR display, PlayStation VR2’s eye tracking, PS5’s 3D Audio, and more.”
Resident Evil Village first released on May 7, 2021, selling over three million units in four days and helping to propel the Resident Evil series to more than 100 million units in lifetime sales. The title was nominated for Game of the Year at the Game Awards 2021 and racked up multiple wins at last year’s Golden Joystick Awards. These include Ultimate Game of the Year, PlayStation Game of the Year, Best Audio, and Best Performance for Maggie Robertson’s voice work for the character Alcina Dimitrescu.
There is no release date as of yet for the PSVR2, so there’s no word on when Resident Evil fans will be able to get their hands
