Pinocchio Live-Action Trailer Reveals All About Upcoming Film

May 31, 2022 by John McDonald

The Blue Fairy and Jiminy Cricket insights.

So, if you didn’t know, Disney is releasing a Pinocchio live-action film this year, and after a teaser trailer was released yesterday that offered a sneak peek of the film, today is the day that the official trailer has been released.

It is true that Disney has created several live-action remakes in recent years, and they will not be stopping anytime soon, basically, until pretty much all of those classics have been remade it seems – and then they’ll do it all over again most likely.

The 1940 Pinocchio is an absolute classic Disney film though, one of the most iconic in a long list of memorable animated films from the house of the mouse – it was a film that ticked all the boxes, and the films following have needed to live up to that standard.

This Pinocchio live-action film will be directed by Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future trilogy), the titular character will be voiced by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, Tom Hanks stars as Geppetto, Cynthia Erivo is The Blue Fairy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays Jiminy Cricket, Luke Evans is the Coachman, and Keenan-Michael Key is “Honest” John (the little red fox).

The release of the film is just a few months away, and Disney+ has released the official trailer for the film today, which you can watch below. The trailer offers a look at Hanks’s Geppetto, Erivo’s Blue Fairy, and Ainsworth as the young puppet boy, Pinocchio.

As you can see, the trailer also gives us an insight into Luke Evans’ character, who is the main antagonist in this story, the man who entices children to venture to Pleasure Island where they will transform into donkeys and… you know the rest. But one thing that is very noticeable is the lack of Pinocchio himself, as he is only seen very briefly. This decision is probably due to the studio wanting to keep the character under wraps until a further trailer is revealed, or maybe even the film itself.

The film is looking to be released on Disney+ on September 8th, so make sure you have a subscription for that date, as this is surely not one to be missed.
