Watch the Developers of The Witcher 3: Hearts of Stone Talk About Making The Game

October 15, 2015 by Ian Miles Cheong

Here’s what the developers of the game’s first expansion pack have to say about making the game.

CD Projekt Red has released a new developer video offering a behind-the-scenes look at the development of The Witcher 3's first expansion pack, Hearts of Stone. Viewers will be able to learn about the new quests and characters, and the effort that went into developing the game.

Among the developers who talk about their work are Len De Gracia, Senior Environment Artist, Jose Teixeira, Senior VFX Artist, and Borys Pugacz-Muraszkiewicz, English Adaptation Director, who talk about working on the game and the company's DLC philosophy.

"We've said this a million times, and I'll say it again. We're gamers, first of all, and we all like to be treated fairly," says Jose Teixeira.

"So it only makes sense that as developers, we apply the same principles to everything we do here at CD Projekt Red. You buying the game is actually a very big deal for us. It allows us to keep doing what we do best—these big vast role-playing games. So giving everyone a bunch of free DLC was an absolute no brainer. You invested in us, and we want to make sure that you feel like your money was well spent."

If you haven't yet played the expansion, the video also shows some early scenes. Watch it above.

You can buy Hearts of Stone separately or with the DLC Season Pass, which includes the as-yet-unreleased Iron and Wine expansion. Hearts of Stone includes at least 10 hours of content and is out for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
