WWE 2K16: Interview Details; On The Roster, The Changes, And The Motion Capture

October 14, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

2K received the message loud and clear from the fans, but it took them a lot of work to build up the roster.

WWE 2K16 marketing director Bryce Yang spoke in earnest about development for the game, including the changes, the roster, and the motion capture.

Usually, annual titles change little, but this went through a lot of change. Technically, this is only the 2nd year 2K Games has had with the title, and they have instituted a lot of changes, down to the core mechanics. The changes make it more authentic to real life wrestling, and benefits newer players mostly.

The choice to have 120 wrestlers came off of WWE 2K15 having half the roster of previous games. 2K received the message directly from the fans: they like more wrestlers, and as big a roster as they can get. Bryce explains it takes a lot for them to add each wrestler in, down to the details of the ring entrances.

To capture the spirit of many of the wrestlers, 2K could only get the details from the original source. Many of the actual wrestlers did their own motion capture for the game. Notable among these is Finn Balor, who was such a high profile entry for a newcomer, as well as a distinctive character.

You can watch the full interview with Bryce above.

WWE 2K16 will be released on October 27
