Ubisoft Offers Apologies and Refunds for Might & Magic Heroes VII Marketing Error

October 12, 2015 by Ian Miles Cheong

Ubisoft is offering free games and complete refunds for players complaining about the lack of a physical disc in their Collector’s Edition.

Players of Might & Magic Heroes VII who ordered the Collector's Edition are complaining about deceptive advertising about the game by Ubisoft.

North American say they were promised a physical copy of the game but instead received a code for a digital copy. In contrast, players in Europe received physical discs with the game.

The controversy stems from promotional images of the Collector's Edition, which included images of the discs along with the copy.

Ubisoft has responded to these complaints by apologizing for the confusion and offering complete refunds and free games for players who want them. Players who opt for the refund will receive a free game to make up for the error.

Players can choose from the following titles:

  • Far Cry 4
  • Assassin's Creed Rogue
  • The Crew
  • Toy Soldiers: War Chest Hall of Fame Edition
  • Zombi

To clear things up, Ubisoft has confirmed that the collector's edition of Might & Magic Heroes VII comes only with a digital copy of the game, and has released updated marketing material on the game's official website.

"Ubisoft regrets any confusion created by the marketing materials from our Might and Magic Heroes VII Collector's Edition," the developer said in a statement. "We understand that some customers in North America were not aware the Collector's Edition delivered digital versions of the game and soundtrack. Ubisoft apologizes for any frustration and disappointment resulting from these items being in digital format vs. physical format."
