Darksiders 2: Deathfinitive Edition Console Release Date Revealed, PC Date Incoming

October 10, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

Nordic may simply be undecided how to sell the old and new versions on PC simultaneously.

Gunfire Games revealed release dates for Darksiders 2: Deathfinitive Edition for consoles, but the PC version will have to wait a little longer.

Post THQ and Vigil Games, Darksiders the IP was bought by Nordic Games, and they assembled a studio made of many former Vigil employees called Gunfire Games. Both Vigil and Gunfire were founded by David Adams, who created Darksiders, so that gives this rerelease a veneer of legitimacy.

With that in mind, the Deathfinitive Edition is a minimal rerelease. Textures have been upscaled, and the DLC has been incorporated into the story campaign seamlessly, but it will not fully take advantage of the power of eight generation consoles. If you have the game on earlier platforms, including PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U, there may not be enough reason to upgrade.

Darksiders 2: Deathfinitive is coming out to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One for $ 29.99 on October 27. Now, regarding the PC release, Gunfire Games sent this tweet out.

@SinsationalsX @darksiders It will be coming to PC some time after it's console release. Stay tuned for more details and date!

No word how much longer it will be and why there’s a delay, but that delay may be borne from PC being the only platform where you can buy the older version.

Nordic may not have decided on how to keep selling both versions. Personally, I think they could just add an upgrade option for Steam and GOGcom. What do you think? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
