Rise of the Tomb Raider Listings Reveal Season Pass, Possible Microtransactions Details

October 7, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

There’ll be extra content coming out for four months from release.

More details on Rise of the Tomb Raider’s season pass has been revealed, as well as what appears to be proof that it will have further microtransactions.

The Season Pass refers to “a single player campaign and let you compete with friends”, possibly hinting at asynchronous online gameplay.

So far, we know of these major DLC releases that will be covered in the Season Pass:

  • Endurance Mode – Survive the extreme conditions
  • Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch – A new tomb that houses an ancient terror
  • Cold Darkness Awakened – Combat waves of infected predators

There will also be a steady stream of outfits, weapons and Expedition Cards for four months from release.

Now, other listings have come to light, sharing more information on the Expedition Cards. These look like they have been tweaked for microtransactions.

There are different kinds of packs available, namely, the Wild Pack, Challenge Pack, Gold Pack, Silver Pack, and Advantage Pack. There will be Uncommon and Rare Cards within these packs, with varying degrees of rarity. Of course, these packs will be priced differently too.

These are, of course, par for the course with newer games, and it’s more likely that there will be ways to earn these cards and packs in regular gameplay to keep fans who don’t want to buy them happy.

Rise of the Tomb Raider will be released on Xbox 360 and Xbox One in November 2015, Windows in early 2016, and for PlayStation 4 in late 2016.
