New Amazon Prime Memberships to be Discounted This Friday

September 22, 2015 by Michael Fossbakk

Savings only good for 24 hours.

Amazon is celebrating the five awards won by its original show Transparent at the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards by discounting new Amazon Prime memberships this Friday, Sept. 25.

For 24 hours on Sept. 25, new subscribers can sign up for Amazon Prime for $67, instead of the regular $99. Prime memberships are charged annually in one lump sum rather than on a monthly basis like so many other subscription services. To take advantage of this deal, simply go the Amazon Prime sign-up page this Friday, Sept. 25 and purchase a membership.

This year, Transparent won five of its 11 Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series by actor Jeffrey Tambor. Television comedy fans might also know Tambor for his role on the cult comedy show Arrested Development, which was revived by Amazon’s television streaming rival Netflix for a fourth season in 2013. Earlier this year, it was confirmed that a fifth season of Arrested Development was underway at Netflix and will consist of 17 episodes.

Amazon Prime memberships grant users certain perks with the online retailer such as free two-day shipping on most items, Amazon Prime Music (Amazon’s music streaming service), Amazon Instant Video (Amazon’s video streaming service), exclusive discounts, and more.

In July, Amazon held its first Amazon Prime Day, a day of discounts on all kinds of products, including video games like Battlefield 4 and FIFA 15. Amazon has also been on the forefront of simplifying how new, coveted amiibo are sold through the retailer by announcing exact times new amiibo will go on sale and separating each figure into different timeslots all in an effort to make sure as many people as possible can get the highly sought-after Nintendo toys.
