Marvel Games are on a massive upswing right now, both in critical reception, quality, and now, they’re becoming even more prolific in number.
In just a matter of hours, 10AM PST on May 19th, as a matter of fact, Marvel Entertainment tweeted out that we’ll get to learn all about the next title that focuses on some of Marvel’s greatest heroes. Coming from the Hong Kong-based publisher Nuverse (Warhammer 40K: Lost Crusade, Sonic at the Olympic Games – Tokyo 2020) and brand new studio Second Dinner, helmed by former Hearthstone director Ben Brode, is a currently unnamed Marvel Game with a fantastic eye-popping art style and a large slate of Marvel characters including Ironheart, America Chavez and Venom, and a splash screen that lists dozens of others including Blade, Odin, Wolverine, Iron Man, and Thanos.
The Marvel Game slate has been rapidly growing since the launch of Insomniac’s Spider-Man in 2018. Now we’ve seen a spin-off in Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Avengers, Guardians Of the Galaxy, Wolverine, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, as well as numerous very successful mobile titles. The way this game is presented doesn’t make it clear what platform it is coming to, but we’ll likely know more post the 10AM reveal.
The developer, Second dinner has previously been teasing its working relationship with Marvel in both subtle, and not-so-subtle ways, but now we’re finally about to see what form the title will take. With previous developer experience being with Hearthstone, the possibility could be that those experiences will help shape a similar card-based Marvel title that draws upon the large roster of heroes under the franchise umbrella.
With so many potential forms the game could take, it’s great that players won’t have to wait too long to get all of the answers they desire with the formal announcement being imminent.
