Hidetaka Miyazaki has shed some light on how Bloodborne lead him back towards making Dark Souls 3.
He shared this statement in a new interview:
Because of the character of Bloodborne’s gameplay, its battle style, as well as the role-playing elements, it’s limited compared to the Dark Souls franchise. It doesn’t necessarily mean Bloodborne was bad. However, while working on [it] I realised, I want to [create] something which has a wide range of battle styles, or features magic, or those things which allow players to wear awesome armour. Those elements are what actually made me come [back] to the Dark Souls franchise.
So no less than Miyazaki says he felt Bloodborne was limited compared to the Dark Souls games, and feeling those limitations made him want to go back to his bigger IP. Dark Souls 3 will be released in Japan on March 24, 2016 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. From Software says that release dates for PC, as well as other regions, are forthcoming.
