Batman Arkham Knight PC Patch Renders It Playable, Still Not Back On Steam

September 5, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

Enough settings have been opened up that players can modify to ge the game running for their configuration.

Batman Arkham Knight has been certified playable on PC, thanks to the latest patch.

We already know about some of the features the patch is adding and fixing from yesterday’s patch notes. Today, we know from someone who actually owns the game that it is a in a good enough condition post patch that it would have met expectations for a retail release, even if it still has some performance issues.

The notable changes performance wise come in terms of being allowed to modify anti-aliasing, anisotropic filtering, and other graphics settings. There is also a VRAM meter that isn’t always a reliable performance indicator, but is useful in optimizing to any configuration nonetheless. Lastly, framerate has been unlocked.

Our source’s experience, on a Intel i5-3570K @3.40 GHz, 8 GB of RAM, GeForce GTX 970, running Windows 7 and at 1080p, is that it can generally perform at 60 FPS.  The game performs best when Batman is on foot, averaging 55 to 60 FPS. It slips to 40 FPS when Batman is gliding, and dips completely in the Batmobile, going down to the 30 FPS range, and even freezing every now and then.

Fans can fiddle with the settings themselves, but if you happen to have modded the files or used a program that modded the files, you should delete the ini files and verify the cache.

With this in mind, Warner Bros Interactive has not seen it fit to restart selling Batman Arkham Knight on Steam. Would you buy it now if it was available? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
