Naughty Dog Explains Why Uncharted 4 is Getting Single-Player DLC

September 3, 2015 by Ian Miles Cheong

The game’s developer talks about why Uncharted 4 is getting single-player DLC.

As we learned a few days ago, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End will be getting single-player DLC sometime after its release. The DLC will be a part of the game's Collector's Edition, though presumably it will also be available separately.

The DLC will be a part of something called the Uncharted Triple Pack that serves as an early DLC Season Pass for the game, containing a single-player story expansion and two multiplayer DLC packs.

Today, the game's developer Naughty Dog explained what the deal is with all that.

"It worked really well for us for The Last of Us," said Arne Meyer at the GameStop Expo. "We thought we could put together a really great piece of content as well [for Uncharted 4]."

He was quoted as saying so on a now-removed YouTube video taken at the event.

"I think we rose to the challenge for The Last of Us, so we decided we're going to take another shot at it," Meyer continued.

Meyer of course refers to the Left Behind expansion for The Last of Us, which was originally released as a DLC and later as a standalone title.

Prior to The Last of Us, the studio only released multiplayer packs for its games, but given the success of the story expansion, they've clearly found a way to make it work.

Uncharted 4's release date was recently announced. It'll be out on March 18 on the PS4.
