Kojima Shares Final Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Trailer To Fans

September 2, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

This trailer comes with a special story and a message to Kojima fans around the world.

Hideo Kojima has shared a brief and touching Debriefing trailer for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. As it has become clear that for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be his farewell to the series, this trailer is his official farewell for fans.

The trailer starts innocuously enough, with Kojima talking to people in his sound design team. He briefly interviews Robin Atkin Dowes, who voices Kazuhira Miller, and Troy Baker, who voices Ocelot. He then takes a trip to GameTrailers studios, where he meets up with Greg Miller and Geoff Keighley.

Finally, Kojima takes us to a surprise trip to a special member of his development team. Sean Paul Gillespie was a Metal Gear fan facing the last days of his life as his body was succumbing to cancer. After learning about Sean, Kojima met with him and his family and made Sean a member of the dev team.

Sean passed away on February 4, 2015, but Kojima made sure he got to play the game a few days before the end. Kojima visited Sean’s family to reveal to them that the game was finally released.

Kojima ends his video with a special message, stating that he was motivated to finish the game from the energy and enthusiasm he received from fans. In an uncharacteristic manner, Kojima humbly states that he hopes fans will enjoy his game, and thanks everyone.

Konami shared a small congratulatory tweet to Kojima as well for the game’s final release. You can watch Kojima’s final Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain trailer above.

Congratulations @HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN @Ken1555 development teams & Konami staff in Japan, UK/EU & LA. It's an amazing game pic.twitter.com/TynIgSoWBM
