Someone at IGN jumped the gun and prematurely announced new developments with Guild Wars 2, which are set to be revealed at their PAX livestream.
While the details aren't officially confirmed by ArenaNet as of yet, we do know that the game will be getting raids, and that you will be able to play the core Guild Wars 2 experience for free, at least up to a certain level.
There are restrictions for the game's free-to-play accounts, which include:
- Only one or two character slots
- Limit of level 15
- Seems like a limit on how high a “rank” you can get (specific to trial or possibly PvP related)
- Only able to send mail to friends.
- Can’t send items or gold through mail
- Can’t speak in map chat
- Can’t access Team Arenas
- Can’t access main WvW maps (EB and Borderlands)
- Can’t sell items on TP.
