Sony has confirmed that the PlayStation Network is currently experiencing unscheduled downtime, leaving users unable to access the store and social features or play their games online.
Gamers have been had their attempts to log-in met with error messages since midmorning, and the official North American and European PlayStation Twitter accounts have now both acknowleged an outage.
Users have reported that some of the PS3's online services, like Netflix, are still working just fine, and a few have apparently managed to get back online in spurts. On the whole, though, it seems like the world will have to do without Resistance 3 multiplayer for at least a few more hours.
There's no word on what (or, god forbid, who) is responsible for the downtime, but Sony has issued assurances that they're working to get things back in working order as soon as possible. If you'd rather not spend the rest of the day mashing the login button, they'll also be providing region-specific updates via Twitter.
