The John Wick franchise is proof that something that can start really small and innocuous and grow to be one of the biggest things ever. The first movie had a modest opening but definitely turned some heads thanks to Keanu Reeves performance as Wick. Then, the second film turned things up and made it clear that this could be something truly special. Yet it was with John Wick 3: Parabellum that really highlighted the glorious madness of the franchise and why this was something everyone should pay attention to. Which is why the wait for John Wick 4 is so hard.
We say that because the movie honestly should’ve been out by now, or coming out soon after a particular delay. But instead, it was moved to 2023 for reasons that aren’t entirely know. Regardless of that though, a new promotional image for John Wick 4 has arrived, and it showcases a different look for Wick.
As you can see, this version of Wick has a bit more hair and he appears a bit gruffer than before.
But then again, if you remember the ending to John Wick 3, he wasn’t in the best of states. After defending the Continental in New York, he was betrayed by Winston, and only saved by the Bowery King (Lawrence Fishburne, who was also betrayed in the movie by the people of the High Table). The two are going to take the fight to the High Table to get revenge, but we don’t know how.
One of the reasons for the delay was because the team had to try and make sure that the movie could not just live up to all that came before, but that it would actually top it in its own way.
The movie will release March 24th, 2023.
