New Resident Evil Revelations Info Surfaces

September 20, 2011 by Ian Miles Cheong

An information blowout of Resident Evil Revelations reveals the existence of several new characters and how the 3DS title will use the Slide Pad.

Eyes focused like a microscope, we take a closer look at Capcom's Resident Evil Revelations, which is set to return gamers to the zombie-infested world where Umbrella Corporation experiments run rampant and science is something not to cheer, but vilify. It's bad science fiction, but it's just the way I like it.

At Capcom's Tokyo Game Show booth, the developers revealed that Revelations would be the first game in the Resident Evil series to feature a full range of voice acting, with no unspoken lines.

Revelations, which is slated for release on the Nintendo 3DS, will have full extended support for the 3DS Slide Pad. The left joystick allows you to control your sub-weapon and can be switched on the touch screen, while the right joystick on the Slide Pad controls character movement. The camera can be rotated by swiping the touch screen side to side. Additionally, guns can be fired from a first person view, and reloaded from that viewpoint.

One of the game's newly introduced sub-weapons includes a BOW decoy.

A new bio-scanner system called "Genesis" allows you to scan for hidden items, enemies and other secrets.

Resident Evil Revelations introduces several new characters to the series, including BSAA agent Parker Luciani, who escorts Jill Valentine in her investigation of Chris Redfield's disappearance; and Jessica Sherawat, a BSAA member who went missing with Chris Redfield on his mission in 2005.

Resident Evil Revelations will will follow the BSAA's investigation into a mysterious terrorist organization known as Verutoro, and its use of a weaponized virus called "t-Abyss."

Resident Evil Revelations is set for a 2012 release on the Nintendo 3DS.
