Fallout 4: What To Expect And Hope For With Body Customization

August 20, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

Body types could be determined via presets, or much preferably, using several scalers.

Do you think there will be body customization in Fallout 4? MattyTalks discusses the possibilities. You can subscribe to him on YouTube here.

This speculation only exists because a choice for body appeared in the bottom half of a screen in the E3 trailer. With that in mind; here’s what you need to know:

Of course, players will be able to determine their own weight and height. However, fans do remember that in Fallout 3, everyone was the same size and weight. While it was not believable, it was somewhat tolerable in that time. However, that is simply not the case anymore in 2015, and this is one of the most highly requested features for the game today.

Now, body types could be determined via presets, or much preferably, using several scalers. Presets could define bodies as apple shaped, pear shaped, skinny, muscular, obese, etc. Of course, as many games will point out, this does not do full justice to the full range of dysmorphic features.

Instead, fans hope to make their own avatars in the same way they can make Miis, or Saints Row or WWE 2K15 characters. These are all radically different applications, but they all address body types the same; by using scalers to determine different body features. In some cases, like Mii Maker or WWE 2K15, the game can even capture your features to help create a reasonable facsimile of you. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One each have cameras and sensors, so who’s to say Bethesda would not take advantage of this ability?

Fallout 4 will be released on November 10, 2015 PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows.
