Star Wars Battlefront’s Supremacy Match Duration Explained

August 17, 2015 by Michael Fossbakk

"A close Supremacy match can go on forever."

Matches of Supremacy mode in Star Wars Battlefront can last longer than 10 minutes, lead multiplayer designer at EA DICE Dennis Brännvall clarified in a tweet.

“Clarification on the Supremacy blog: each time a control point is claimed, time is added,” he wrote. “A close Supremacy match can go on forever.”

Brännvall didn’t provide any specifics such as how much time is added when a control point is captured or if the amount changes depending on variables like whether your team is losing or winning, but Brännvall replied in the affirmative when asked, “If the winning team has 3 [control] points, [captures] a 4th, does the time extend also?”

Last week, EA DICE unveiled the new mode for Star Wars Battlefront, dubbed Supremacy, describing it as a mode for large scale battles to take place with vehicles and hero/villain units. In Supremacy, players on two opposing teams must battle for five control points, four of which are relegated evenly to the Rebel Alliance and Imperial opposing teams at the beginning of a match, with a neutral point located somewhere in the middle of the map.

Initially, EA DICE had said that whichever team controlled the most capture points after ten minutes would be crowned victorious, but Brännvall’s tweet now clarifies that not to be the case. Instead, capturing points will add time to a match’s duration and the more control points being captured the longer the match.

In other Star Wars news, Sony announced a Darth Vader-themed PlayStation 4 console and controller at Disney’s D23 Expo yesterday. The console will launch alongside Star Wars Battlefront on Nov. 17, 2015.
