Techland Talks About Its Ambitions With Dying Light 2

August 14, 2015 by Ian Miles Cheong

Techland has ambitious ideas for a possible Dying Light sequel.

Dying Light 2 is on the table at Techland, which recently announced that the first game has sold over 5 million copies.

Originally released in January 2015 for the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, the game was one of the 10 best-selling titles of the first half of 2015 in the United States, making it a tremendous success. Its developers are currently working on a story-based expansion pack titled The Following, which adds vehicular combat into the game.

Speaking to Videogamer, the game's producer Tymon Smektala said that it's still too early for the studio to talk about the possibilities offered by Dying Light 2.

“We have lots of very ambitious ideas so first we need to check if these ideas are even doable with the tech that the current consoles provide. We also need to check if our concepts are really as good as we think they are, so we need to prototype things.

“So there is nothing to talk about, and on the other hand there are lots of things going inside our studio where we test, prototype and experiment with stuff.”

He added that Techland isn't even sure that what they want to do with a sequel can be achieved on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at the current level of technology.

He said that in spite of this, the studio knows what its goals are with the franchise.
