GTA 5 Modders Banned by Rockstar for Breaking the Rules

August 12, 2015 by Ian Miles Cheong

Rockstar claims they were facilitating piracy.

Three modders responsible for the FiveM mod for Grand Theft Auto 5 have been banned from the Rockstar Social Club, thereby preventing them from being able to play the game in either single- or multiplayer modes. The three individuals, NTAuthority, TheDeadlyDutchi, and Qaisjp, believe that their bans have to do with their involvement with the mod. They claim that the bans are unfair because the FiveM mod only affects the single-player portion of GTA 5 and not GTA Online.

It's against the Rockstar terms and conditions to mess around with the game's online mode.

In response to inquiries by the media, Rockstar confirmed that the bans came about as a result of their participation in the mod's creation, and that the mod violates those policies.

"The FiveM project is an unauthorized alternate multiplayer service that contains code designed to facilitate piracy," Rockstar said in a statement to PC Gamer. "Our policy on such violations of our terms of service are clear, and the individuals involved in its creation have had their Social Club accounts suspended."

This pretty much contradicts what we know of the mod, and one of its creators, Qaisjp says that he wants to clear things up with Rockstar.

If you're interested in modifying GTA 5, I recommend steering clear of FiveM until they figure things out.
