Animal Crossing: New Horizons Bunny Day 2022 Kicks Off

April 11, 2022 by Dani Cook

Bunny Day has arrived!

Nintendo has officially announced the start of the annual Easter event in Animal Crossing: New Horizons called Bunny Day. In a message to fans on the official @AnimalCrossing Twitter, run so graciously by civil servant Isabelle, “Hello! Bunny Day is on a different date each year, so I thought I’d be sure to remind you that it’s on Sunday, April 17th this year. You’ll find eggs hidden all around your island starting today—I hope you have fun collecting them!”

Get ready for a new influx of memes portraying the cheerful yellow rabbit as a secretly evil demon. Players sure had a lot of fun with that during the first Bunny day in 2020, just watch the creepy video below for reference.

Isabelle also added the message, “Oh! I almost forgot to mention that Nook’s Cranny also has Bunny Day items available from now through Bunny Day itself. You’ll find new items every day, so check back often if you want to collect them all!”

While holiday-themed events are definitely part of the fun in Animal Crossing games, fans have grown bored with the lack of updates in them each year. 2022 marks the game’s third Bunny Day and it has had little to no change since the first, with many players complaining that they have already collected these items twice. @MacRendar said in the comments of the Twitter post, “I don’t feel it’d be an insane request that at the very least, events get a new set of items each year.” Unfortunately, this lack of new content not only applies to Bunny Day, but every annual event in the game.

Nintendo has already said that the last expansion, Animal Crossing: Happy Home Paradise would be the last major update to the game, much to the disappointment of fans still waiting for content from past games. For any gamers who haven’t tried out the social simulation game, it is a treat. It just doesn’t have the replayability of past games.
