The Batman as a film was very much hyped. And the global pandemic only made the wait for it more intolerable. But, thankfully, on March 4 of this year, it came out, and the very wide consensus was that this was a very good take on the character and that the movie was very different from anything we’d seen before from the Caped Crusader. It’s done incredible in its box office run, and now, fans are eager to be able to watch it at home. So…when will that be? Well, now we know.
Fans will get the chance to stream The Batman Monday, April 18 on HBO Max, with its HBO air date set for Saturday, April 23 at 8 p.m. ET. That’s right, to stream it, all you have to do is wait a week. Not too bad, huh?
There’s little doubt that the higher-ups at the newly merged Warner Bros Discovery are aiming to have this movie’s arrival boost up their HBO Max subscriptions. And that’s not an unreasonable expectation given the popularity of the film.
At present, and somewhat ironically, there hasn’t been confirmation that the film is getting a sequel. Matt Reeves has talked at length at times in regards to the potential sequels that may be coming. Including maybe continuing the tease of The Joker, or doing villains like Hush and Mr. Freeze.
Given the box office revenue of the film, it’d be truly shocking if a sequel wasn’t announced. But hopefully, the streaming numbers for the film will help elevate the need to get a second movie made, if for no other reason than to see what Matt Reeves could do with the character next.
As for what’s next for DC Comics, their next major movie is in October with Black Adam and then December with Shazam: Fury of the Gods.
