Horizon Zero Dawn Dev Clarifies Release Window They’re Aiming For

August 6, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

This follows confusion from a stream on Rocketbeanstv where senior producer Mark Norris’ statements were taken out of perspective.

Guerrilla Games has clarified their projected release date for PlayStation 4 exclusive Horizon Zero Dawn. This follows confusion from a stream on Rocketbeanstv where senior producer Mark Norris’ statements were taken out of perspective.

Host Simon Kratschmer helped clear up the confusion after the interview. As he explained, all the devs said was that if given the choice to polish the game or release it in 2016, they would go for the latter, even if it meant delaying to 2017. The wording was clearly indicating a hypothetical situation.

Saying the devs just said that if the game needs more polish at the end of 2016, that they would delay it to 2017; that's it

Mark gave official word as well, answering a fan on Twitter, flat out, that Guerrilla is targeting a 2016 release.

@Cripshay @Guerrilla We're targeting a 2016 release for Horizon Zero Dawn.

It may be a maxim from another company but I’m sure Guerrilla had the same thing in mind: A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad.

Given the choice, would you rather wait for Horizon Zero Dawn to get fully polished and released in 2017, or would you prefer to play it now, with the opportunity for game fixing patches in the future? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
