Age of Empires 4 Players Getting New Updates

April 1, 2022 by John McDonald

Season 1 update is here.

You Age of Empires 4 players have something to look forward to as a new Season One update is coming to the world-famous strategy game, that will just make everything that much better. The first major update of 2022 is coming soon, after the release of the game in October 2021, and with it comes Ranked Seasons, the Content Editor (only the beta though), and some mods. There will also be some Seasonal Events, major changes to the balance, and some improvements to the overall gameplay as well – so much stuff I bet you cannot hide your excitement. Take a look at the announcement trailer below, you know you’re gagging too.

I’m sure you want to know a few more details, don’t you? Well, you’re in luck. With the Content Editor, you will be able to enjoy the custom play by creating your own very personalized map. The Age of Empires team will also be looking at some of the internally made mods created by the developers, as well as some of the more detailed features of the Content Editor. And for your viewing pleasure, there will be a live stream soon that talks about the beta, all the mods, and the maps.

Now, when it comes to the Seasons, they will feature new content and rewards as well, that help you progress and will keep unlocking over a set amount of time. You can expect both Ranked Seasons should you want to compete at higher levels, and there will also be Seasonal Events with in-game challenges where you are able to unlock rewards. More information will be released about this as it comes out.

On top of all that, there will also be a host of balance and quality-of-life changes that includes a global build queue, hotkey improvements, and many more little treats. And last but by no means least, the Age of Empires 4 line-up will include a brand-new Advanced Combat Art of War challenge, along with a new MegaRandom map. Check out the Road Map below.

The release notes will go live when the new update goes live at the back end of next week, so try and hold your excitement until then.
