Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra conductor Arnie Roth has said he spoke "in error" at a weekend concert in which he appeared to confirm a Final Fantasy 12 remake.
Roth told concert-goers "there's a Final Fantasy 12 remake underway, that's coming out soon," but in an update on the Distant Worlds: Music from Final Fantasy official Facebook page, the composer retracted his comments.
"I want to rectify a statement made from the stage Saturday night at our Distant Worlds: Music from Final Fantasy concert in Pittsburgh," Roth wrote.
"Following conversations with composer Hitoshi Sakimoto regarding new concert arrangements of music from Final Fantasy 12, regrettably, the term ‘remake' was used in error during one of the announcements that took place from the stage during the concert," Roth added. "We sincerely regret any confusion this has caused."
Sakimoto, who composed Final Fantasy 12's score, was introduced to the Pittsburgh audience by Roth following his comments about the remake.
Final Fantasy 12 was released for the PlayStation 2 in 2012 and remains exclusive to that platform. Publisher Square Enix announced a complete remake of Final Fantasy 7 for PS4 and Xbox One at E3 2015.
