WWE 2K16 Changes To Commentary And New Mo-Cap Will Shake Up The Game

August 3, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

Small touches like this show to fans how much developers care.

Four superstars were confirmed for WWE 2K16, in very different ways that will pique your interest for 2K Games next installment of the wrestling sim.

First off, we have John Bradshaw Layfield, who is joining the commentary team. JBL will affect commentary in a big way, as he is the first major change for a while. JBL being added in means that Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler have to record new lines with him. Everyone generally hopes that he will shake up the randomization on the commentary, and help give it a feeling of genuine conversation.

Lillian Garcia has moved into Justin Roberts’ role as ring announcer in real life, and so she also takes over this role for the video games. Justin opted not to renew his contract and was released by the WWE last year, giving Lillian the opportunity to return to the role that made her famous in 1999.

We already knew Arnold Schwarzenegger would be joining the game, but WWE surprised some fans by showing some motion capture of the 68 year old. While this choice means the two Terminators won’t look authentic to their original movie versions, it will be authentic for fans of the action star. Of course, 2K Sports may choose to de-agify him as well.

Finally, John Heyman did some new motion capture for the game, as an essential refresh for fans.

Overall, many of this motion capture and commentary news is exciting primarily because these haven’t changed for years. It may seem trivial, but small touches like this show to fans how much developers care about their games, and 2K Sports is working hard to prove they care a lot.

WWE 2K16 will be released on October 27 on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
