Apex Legends to Bring Back Control Game Mode Tomorrow

March 28, 2022 by Carley Garcia

The mode was introduced in Season 12, released back in February.

The players have spoken. Since Control was first introduced as a limited-time game mode in Season 12 back in February, fans have been asking Apex Legends devs to bring the madness back. Dreams do come true, and Respawn Entertainment has confirmed that the Control game mode will be returning for a limited time as part of the upcoming Warriors Collection Event.

From March 29 until April 12, players can get their fill of Control content. For those unfamiliar, the game mode pits two teams of nine Legends against each other as they struggle to capture and hold strategic points on the Apex map. Specifically, players will need to control three locations, with each point granting points to its team. A first for the battle royale, the mode adds unlimited respawns. A leaderboard highlights those at the top of the pack.

Given that Control is an objective-based mode, certain Legends proved to be better than others. Those wielding movement abilities like Pathfinder, Mad Maggie, and Octane are the best at traversing between control points, while Gibraltar, Bangalore, and Caustic are good for guarding already captured points. After three years of relatively similar updates, Control really shook things up, and players obviously can’t get enough of the new challenge.

Respawn has also confirmed that Kings Canyon’s Caustic Treatment has been completely converted into a new three-point battleground for Control. Players can expect ziplines, skydiving launchers, new cover, and a hover tank.

Apex Legends is available to download on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The game supports cross-play and is slowly being rolled out on mobile devices around the world in 2022.

Upon its release in 2019, the game surpassed 25 million players in its first week. By April 2021, Apex Legends had approximately 100 million players. The game was also the second most Tweeted about game of 2021, just behind Genshin Impact.
