There are several major movies (and Disney+ shows) coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe this year, and each of them has their own questions about quality and character development as one would expect at this point. But, in terms of Marvel films, the biggest question mark is that of Black Panther Wakanda Forever. Why? Because in 2020, when the global pandemic was truly taking everything good away, it took the life of actor Chadwick Boseman, the man who very epically played T’Challa, the Black Panther. His passing was so shocking that many wondered what would happen.
Sure enough, Marvel Studios did announce Black Panther Wakanda Forever, a sequel that was set to “focus on the supporting cast” of the original film. They also noted that they would NOT recast T’Challa, nor use CGI in order to “recreate” Chadwick Boseman’s face in order to “keep him alive”. They will address his death in the film, we just don’t know how.
But while this may have seemed like a thing that would be easy to film, it’s been anything but. There have been numerous issues with the film over the course of its filming (not the least of which were outbreaks and issues with a certain actor), but now, apparently, the filming is done.
This was “revealed” by a hairstylist believe it or not who promised that “it’s true this time” and “that’s a wrap!” while also citing just how far over filming went for the movie.
The movie is currently set to arrive in November (which is now open due to the delay of The Flash film), but one has to wonder if they’re going to be able to hold to that time, or if something else will come up to delay the film yet again.
We’ll just have to wait and see.
