Need for Speed Will Have a Playable Demo at gamescom

July 28, 2015 by Ian Miles Cheong

Here’s what’s in store with the playable demo of Need for Speed.

It's no secret that EA Games will be heading to this year's gamescom, which once again takes place in Cologne, Germany. The company will be showcasing a number of upcoming games at the event, including the new Need for Speed reboot.

The company today announced that the racing game will be playable for attendees, detailing exactly what's in store for fans of the series at the convention.

According to EA Games, the playable demo for Need for Speed will feature five cars. It's anyone's guess as to what cars they plan to showcase, but each of the vehicles on display will provide players the chance to play around with the game's heavy car customization options, which are said to be similar to Need for Speed: Underground. Once customized, players can take their vehicles out for a spin on the streets of Ventura Bay.

EA plans to take screenshots of all the player-customized vehicles at gamescom and upload their favorites to the game's official website once the event ends.

In addition to the playable demo, the publisher will be holding a press conference where Need for Speed is expected to feature prominently. Attendees can expect to see a new trailer and additional details about the upcoming game.

If you plan to attend, EA will be showcasing the game in Hall 6 at the following times:

  • Wednesday, August 5, 09:00 – 19:00 CEST (Wednesday is open for press and trade visitors only)
  • Thursday, August 6, 10:00 – 20:00 CEST
  • Friday, August 7, 10:00 – 20:00 CEST
  • Saturday, August 8, 10:00 – 20:00 CEST
  • Sunday, August 9, 09:00 – 18:00 CEST

Need for Speed comes out for the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on November 3.
