Unreal Engine 4 is capable of turning out some pretty beautiful, highly-detailed environments and characters so real that they’re… well, unreal. YouTuber CryZENx has given a number of beloved characters the Unreal Engine 4 treatment, and Kirby is the newest subject of the Kite demo.
If you didn’t already think Kirby looks like a gumball, this video will convince you of it. Being able to see inside his mouth at this level of detail is slightly disturbing, and there's something really off with his mouth shape. It would seem that the deer in this world are programmed to be terrified of everything, but running (prancing?) away should probably be the default reaction when Kirby’s on your tail.
Ignoring that creepy moment when you’re literally inside Kirby’s head in the video, we can sort of see the appeal of having him in Unreal 4, but we’ll stick to regular old Kirby. The mouth bothers us way too much.
