Dead Island Definitive Edition seems to be on the way, if this rumor is to be believed.
A fan has found a listing for Dead Island Definitive Edition for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The listing also says it will be coming out on November 13.
Originally released in 2011, Dead Island is set in a zombie infested island designed like an open world. You can roam somewhat freely but large areas of the island are divided up. The game’s focus is on melee combat and questing, with experience earned from completing tasks and killing zombies.
Techland’s original Dead Island game is the studio’s most successful, selling over five million copies. However, that initial release was marred with controversies, including an unlockable skill for Purna labeled ‘Feminist Whore’, no official release in Germany, and a broken release on PC that took many months to fix.
Of course, it is to be expected that Dead Island Definitive Edition will launch with none of these issues, if it does turn out to be true. The latest game in the series, Dead Island 2, hit a serious setback when publisher Deep Silver cut ties with its last developer, Yager.
We do know that work on Dead Island 2 continues, but whether it was premeditated or not, Dead Island Definitive Edition may be just the thing to tide fans over in the meantime.
