Shazam Director Calls Out Own Mistake In Original Movie

March 15, 2022 by Todd Black

It’s always refreshing to hear that someone on a certain level “above you” made a mistake that they aren’t proud of. Because many times those people are referred to a “special” or even “perfect” in what they do, and we should all know that this isn’t the case. That especially goes for those who have pressure to get things done in a certain timeframe, you know, like movie people? Take David F. Sandberg for example, and accomplished director who did the first, and the upcoming, Shazam movie.

He was REALLY happy to get this job, and then for the sequel, he pushed to make Fury of the Gods bigger and more impactful than the first one. But one thing he doesn’t want to is to be rushed…again.

Because when it came to the first movie, while he loved what turned out, he still sees some flaws in the film that he could’ve fixed if he had more time. And he pointed this out on Twitter.

You know, I’d rather take my chances against Avatar if it means not having to rush VFX. It’s been 3 years and I’m still thinking about stuff like this: https://t.co/6srkCjaV6M pic.twitter.com/iaa1UI62lu

If you can’t tell, Dr. Sivana (played by Mark Strong) has a hand in front of one of the Seven Deadly Sins that doesn’t look quite right. Many people no doubt didn’t notice this as they were watching him speak, but Sandberg noticed it.

He cited that he was rushed in the first movie to get it out, but will ensure that this doesn’t happen again for Shazam Fury of the Gods. Which is now coming out in December of this year. The movie is already done filming and they moved it up because they were apparently much farther along than Flash and Aquaman (Black Adam was also delayed but is still coming out this year).

Again, it’s refreshing to hear that things don’t always go smoothly and that these directors wish they had more time to do what they want to do: make a good and clean-looking movie.
