Devil’s Third Coming To Wii U In The US Q4, Valhalla Publishing PC Version

July 20, 2015 by Ryan Parreno

And yes, Nintendo and Nintendo alone are publishing the game to Wii U.

Nintendo of America has just released what is likely the biggest bombshell regarding Valhalla Studios’ Devil’s Third.

It’s finally been settled. Nintendo will be publishing Devil’s Third, on Wii U via retail and digital, this Q4. However, that is not all.

Valhalla Game Studios will be publishing a special edition of the game for PC, that’s solely focused on the multiplayer. Multiplayer on PC will also be ‘tailored for the platform.’ The Wii U version will still be the only version with both the single player campaign and multiplayer portion.

Just last February, Itagaki dispelled rumors that the game would be coming to Steam, but given everything that's happened between then and now, this may have changed as well. Of course, it may have also been planned all along.

Now, there is no word if Valhalla and Nintendo will delay Devil’s Third for Japan and Europe, but if they have delayed it in North America to Q4, there is a possibility Valhalla could use the extra time to polish the game up. Perhaps Japan and Europe will get a patch down the line?

The new release date also hints at something interesting. Nintendo and Valhalla may have decided that  Devil’s Third will be able to compete in the market with Call of Duty, Battlefront, and other heavy hitter shooters. It does mean it will not be contending with the release of Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain for the US.

You can read Nintendo's full press release verbatim below:

Tomonobu Itagaki’s Devil’s Third Heads to Wii U in the Americas in Q4

Devil’s Third, an upcoming shooter game with melee combat from Valhalla Game Studios Co., Ltd. and renowned game developer Tomonobu Itagaki, will launch for the Wii U console in retail locations and in the Nintendo eShop in Q4 of this year. The game is an over-the-top, third-person action shooter that combines modern military weaponry with ninja-style swordplay and melee combat.

“Devil’s Third delivers a unique combination of shooting and melee combat to provide Wii U owners with a fresh action-oriented experience,” said Valhalla Game Studios founder Tomonobu Itagaki. “We’ve been working hard on the game and can’t wait for fans to get their hands on it later this year.”

While the Wii U version of the game will be published by Nintendo in the Americas, Valhalla Game Studios will release a standalone version of the game for PC. The Wii U version will feature a full multiplayer mode as well as an exciting single-player story mode, while the free-to-start PC version will offer a multiplayer experience tailored for the platform.
