Mass Effect: Andromeda’s Producer Excited About New Leveling System

July 13, 2015 by Vanessa Lopa

Producer Mike Gamble is singing praises, but can’t – or won’t – disclose details yet. What a tease.

It wasn’t that long ago when Mass Effect 4 was finally given a name; now we’re all waiting for Mass Effect: Andromeda. They really showed off at E3, boasting that everything they showed was captured in-game, and that got fans more hyped than they already were.

Bioware took the best parts of any Mass Effect game and threw it in a blender with some new features to come up with something that lives up to the Mass Effect name, but also expands what that means to the players. So what’s staying, and what’s going?

It looks like the leveling system is among the features that will stay in the newest entry. While it seems like a leveling system should be a default in an action RPG like this, they did say they wanted to tinker with what constitutes “Mass Effect.” Previous entries in the series have introduced new elements, and it sounds like Andromeda’s leveling system may have some significant differences from Mass Effect 3’s system. Producer Michael Gamble praises the system – and credits lead designer Ian Frazier.

@somerandomLuke actually the system itself is quite incredible, IMO. @tibermoon did a great job. More on that later though

So they’re keeping quiet on the details of the new leveling system for now. It’s not the only thing they’ve stayed mum about, but it’s understandable. One does not simply throw one’s project out into the world when it’s barely ready to fend for itself. We trust that in due time, BioWare will reveal the updates that the fans are craving.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is slated for a Q4 2016 release on the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
